Central Aero Engineering Ltd - Managing Director & Chief Engineer
Licensed Aircraft Engineer with 35 + years experience in aviation engineering, ranging from Piston & Turbine powerplants, balloons, gliders, composite aircraft, wood + fabric, steel tube, GA aircraft & Helicopters, Air Accident investigation & Maintenance controlling & consultancy.
Paul started work with James Aviation in 1979 as a junior engineer rebuilding FU24 top-dressing aircraft, and later moving on to maintenance and repair of many different types of aircraft serviced by James Aviation. Cessna, Beech craft, Piper, Aero commander, DC4 carvair conversions, Hiller, Hughes, and Bell helicopters were the more common types.
A short time on secondment to Aerospace industries included work on RNZAF CT4, Strikemaster and GAF Nomad types.
James Aviation was later absorbed by Pacific Aerospace Corporation and Paul continued training in almost every aspect of aircraft engineering from maintenance, to component overhaul of airframes, engines and electrical systems on civilian and military contracts. It was during this time that Paul gained his Aircraft Engineering License.
Later years have produced extensive license coverage, helicopter experience and training, gaining a diverse range of experience on rotorcraft, fixed wing, piston and turbine engines. Contract work with Eagle Airways have added the benefit of maintenance experience on Metroliner and Bandiarante types.
Further qualifications and then study with Massey University bought the desire for Paul to own a business and, having met with Engineer and pilot Norm Kensington, the decision was made to combine resources and form Central Aero Engineering, offering engineering services to the wider aviation community.
